New Releases for the Week of October 4, 2019

JOKER

(Warner Brothers) Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Shea Whigham, Marc Maron. Directed by Todd Phillips

Batman’s main nemesis gets an origin story of his own in this standalone movie that will not be set within the overall continuity of the cinematic DC Extended Universe. The movie has been a huge controversy, garnering massive critical praise but excoriated in some corners for the excessive violence which survivors of the Aurora, Colorado massacre have officially sent a letter of protest to Warner Brothers for. Now, audiences will finally get to make up their own mind.
